They just don’t mix! Part II

Paul talked to the people of Corinth, as if they were children because the communication between the Church and the apostles was unbearable. They would teach the people, but would insist on mixing with things and people who were not of God, consequently contaminating both their faith and that of others.

Righteousness is to be good, to be straight, to do things properly right before God, while lawlessness is the complete opposite. Lawlessness is to have no thought for the things of God and to just do things as you want.

The same goes for darkness and light, Christ and Belial (the devil) - they are opposites, they just do not mix! There is no link, no communion, no sympathy, no attachment, no bridge - understand this once and for all.

If you are of God, you are of God - if you are not, you are not. There are no shared values between the two. But be careful, an “unbeliever” isn’t necessarily someone who does not go to church. You may be attending the youth group faithfully, bringing your tithes, praying and may even be baptised in water. But if you do not fear God and choose to live life in a way that shows little or no thought for Him, how can you call yourself light?

There are youths who come to the youth group only to flirt and cause trouble; they take advantage of the good heart of those in the YPG and manifest their fleshly desires.

When this is true of someone, he is like cancer. He has a stubborn frame of mind and does not understand that youths in particular, are the pillars of the work of God, and that they have a unique power to bring people to the kingdom of God.

Consider your ways. What you receive from God goes far beyond anything you will receive anywhere else. Cleanse yourself from any filthiness before you get more contaminated. There is so much darkness in the world and you are the light of the world, the hope - but you kill it when you choose to tolerate darkness.

Remember, when light sees darkness, there is a conflict there… which side are you on?

We must run from evil, run from bad company, from the so called "friends" that do not really care about our well being.

It is a privilege to mix with people of true faith. You inevitably start to become a better person.

this is true! people of God cant be mixed with people who aren't, because there is no communion anyways! we wont have the same faith, and they will try to bring us down instead of being stronger.

This is very true. Light and darkness dont mix, and they will never. We have to be those youths that influence others into following God's Word and not be like those others that are there for their own selfish reasons.

Very true both light and darkness don't mix.Either you surve God or you don't.Light and darkness doesn't only mean God or the devil it also means the atmosphere around you , your freinds , the language you use , your habits and etc.
All this we most watch very carefully because God is also watching us even if you think nobody is watching you!

I have stumbled across this website through chance and am interested by what you are saying. Please forgive me if I offend anyone.
I am not a believer, I was brought up with only a loose Christian faith, which I have since lost. However, I have listened to the moral teachings of the Bible, and other than that of not believing, I cannot think that I have committed any great sin, and I have not had any desire to. Does this mean I could not mix with someone of your faith? Would I be seen as a corrupting influence? I have many friends who are of strong Christian faith and I think that through my debating with them on issues of belief we disagree about I have succeeded only to strengthen their faith, by prompting them to question it: resulting in them finding it true on all counts. And I am only admiring of the unshakable trust they have, which I do not. Is this a bad thing?

I liked the part of "not tolerating darkness" among and mostly, within us! There are always things we can improve on, to really strengthen our faith.

Following on what Annonymous said, unless we are very sure on our faith, debates can actually bring people weaker on their faith. However, I do understand that we need to be confident in what we believe in and understand how our faith applies to the most varies aspects of life. When we are confident like that, we are able to talk about it with people who may have questions or doubts about faith.
